A New App Promises Auto-Rebates at Walmart, Amazon, Target, Walgreens & Much More!

Drop Spending Rebate App

Cashback apps are a dime a dozen, but many have strange award programs and/or only pay at obscure stores. A new app called Drop has recently launched with a promise of good payouts at the stores you frequent the most. Let’s take a look.

Download & Sign-Up

Drop isn’t available via a sign-up link, but if you download the app (iOS, Android) and enter a referral code (my code is qbr0a) you can get an account opened. You will receive 1,000 points (worth $1 in gift cards) and the referrer will receive the same.

Link Cards

Link your credit cards to the account by using your bank login information. Drop says they don’t store login information, but keep in mind you are giving them access to your transactional data. All of the major banks are represented and I had no issue linking cards from Chase, Bank of America and Citi.

I know some of you will have concerns about giving Drop this info. As always when it comes to banking/financial information, only do what you are comfortable with. While rebates are nice, if you aren’t comfortable giving them access to the info they need, then it may not be worth it.

Choose Your Retailers

The one “catch” with Drop is that you can only choose 5 retailers where you can earn cashback. Here are the available retailers according to Doctor of Credit.

  • Amazon.com – 20 points per $1 (2%)
  • Walgreens – 10 points per $1 (1%)
  • Walmart – 10 points per $1 (1%)
  • Target – 10 points per $1 (1%)
  • Whole Foods Market – 10 points per $1 (1%)
  • Trader Joe’s – 15 points per $1 (1.5%)
  • Safeway – 11 points per $1 (1.1%)
  • HEB – 20 points per $1 (2%)
  • Uber â€“ 15 points per $1 (1.5%)
  • Starbucks â€“ 15 points per $1 (1.5%)
  • McDonald’s â€“ 10 points per $1 (1%)
  • Dunkin’ Donuts – 17 points per $1 (1.7%)
  • Chipotle – 15 points per $1 (1.5%)
  • 7-Eleven – 19 points per $1 (1.9%)
  • Shell – 3 points per $1 (.3%)
  • Bath & Body Works
  • Urban Outfitters
  • Macy’s – 10 points per $1 (1%)
  • H&M
  • Seamless – 20 points per $1 (2%)
  • Blue Bottle Coffee
  • Peet’s Coffee & Tea

There are definitely some interesting options on that list. Be careful which 5 you choose, since it doesn’t seem possible to change your selections, or at least it isn’t possible at this time as far as I can tell.

One Time Offers

In addition to the above locked in offers, there are one-time offers as well. As of now the only one-time spending offer I have is 2,000 points ($2) after spending $20 at Amazon. Not the biggest deal, but hopefully they will add even more one-time offers to this soon.

There are also a few other offers you can trigger that give extra points. For example you get 2,000 points for adding a second bank/card and you can get points for things like enabling notifications.

Redemptions

Once you earn points, you need to be able to redeem them for something! As I mentioned before, 1,000 points = $1 in gift cards. Here are your gift card redemption options as of now:

  • $5 Starbucks – 5,000 Points
  • $5 Aerie – 5,000 Points
  • $10 Old Navy – 10,000 Points
  • $10 Dunkin’ Donuts – 10,000 Points
  • $10 iTunes – 10,000 Points
  • $10 Amazon.com – 10,000 Points
  • $10 American Eagle Outfitters – 10,000 Points
  • $10 Gap – 10,000 Points
  • $10 Nordstrom – 10,000 Points
  • $15 Groupon – 15,000 Points
  • $15 AMC – 15,000 Points
  • $15 Banana Republic – 15,000 Points
  • $20 Whole Foods Market – 20,000 Points
  • $25 Barnes & Noble – 25,000 Points
  • $25 Applebee’s – 25,000 Points
  • $25 Lyft – 25,000 Points
  • $25 Apple – 25,000 Points
  • $25 JCPenney – 25,000 Points
  • $50 Hotels.com – 50,000 Points
  • $50 Best Buy – 50,000 Points
  • $100 American Airlines – 100,000 Points

Conclusion

I personally spend a lot of money at some of the stores on the list, so the ability to add additional rebates on top of what I earn already is an exciting one. It remains to be seen how long Drop can maintain these payouts, but I’ll enjoy them while they last.

  1. Actually i use Earny.. its an app that automatically files refunds for price drops of products you bought through different proce protection policies.
So far saved me easy 20 bucks.

  2. Thanks for sharing. Seems easy enough. They gave me the 1,000 points for your code and another 2,200 ish just for setting up the basics. Seems like free money.
One of the redemption offers is $100 AA gift card for 100,000 points. Sounds like a lot but that’s only about $5k in spend at some merchants which could add up. Not including bonuses.

  3. I like this idea but 90% of the retailer’s I pay with using some sort of gift card balance or credit, like the Amazon credit. If they can find a way to reward based on spending regardless of how you pay, this might be a winner.
