Alaska Airlines Visa 30K Bonus

Alaska Airlines Visa 30K Bonus Offer

Bank of America has launched new card art for their Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card and with it have also increased the public bonus on the card from 25K miles to 30K miles. Let’s look at the offer and why it might not be the best deal for getting this card.

The Offer

30,000 bonus miles after you make $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days.

Note: If you are approved for less than a $5K credit line, you will be given the Platinum Plus account with only a 5K bonus.

Is This Offer Better?

Alaska Airlines Visa 30K Bonus
30K or 25K + $100?

Prior to this new 30K offer, the public offer was 25K miles after first purchase. With that said, there was an offer giving 25K after first purchase + $100 statement credit after $1K in purchases within 90 days. To get the statement credit offer you simply needed to make a dummy booking on the Alaska Air website and would see the offer before completing checkout. (Here is a direct link.)

For me the $25K + $100 offer is probably slightly more valuable since I don’t quite think Alaska miles are worth $.02 each. I also like that the $100 credit offsets the annual fee. Since this new 30K offer is a public offer that is just now rolling out, my hope is that we will see a 30K + $100 offer on the Alaska website. As of now the Alaska website still shows the old card art and offer, but that could change at any time.

Conclusion

I personally would hold off a few days before applying for this card just in case we do see a 30K + $100 offer roll out for this card. If you absolutely need to apply now, the big question becomes if Alaska miles are worth more than $.02 each to you. If the answer is yes then go for the 30K, but if the answer is no then the statement credit will make more sense.
