Great 50K Spending Offer For Existing Amex Business Gold Rewards Cardmembers

I see a great offer for my Amex Business Gold Rewards Card under the Amex Offers & Benefits section that can earn me as much as an extra 10X MR points. It is a targeted offer and it seems like it seems to not be active yet. I’m also getting conflicting information from CSRs.

The Offer

Limited Time Offer: Earn 50,000 Membership Rewards points after you use your Business Gold Rewards Card to make $5,000 in qualifying purchases through 10/15/2017.

Analysis

The problem with the offer is that when you click it, it goes to an error page. So I am not able to see full terms or figure out if activation is required. I spoke with two CSRs and one told me that she doesn’t see offer on my card and it is probably just a signup bonus and the other said that the offer should already be activated and I just need to spend $5,000 by 10/15/2017. That’s not very convincing.

As for the offer itself it is obviously a great spending bonus, similar to what we recently saw for the Amex Platinum card. It gives you an extra 10X for up to $5,000 in spending. So if you have it in your cards and we are able to get some confirmation that the offer is valid, it’ definitely worth it.

Conclusion

Check your Amex Business Gold Rewards accounts online to see if you have the offer. Hopefully you have better luck at activating it or getting some kind of confirmation. This is like a second sign up bonus on the card.

  3. I also had this offer on my card as of yesterday. Spent 20 min on chat and got nowhere, then 45 min on phone getting nowhere until escalated to a supervisor who said it’s a known issue and a mistake they won’t be honoring. Complained to AskAmex on twitter which made me go through the steps of screenshotting the offer before they’d even acknowledge it, and then, insanely, required that I share my screen with them via a little hidden feature of the Amex website I didn’t even know about. Only then did they say they’d see what they could do for me, and to wait 48 hours for a DM on Twitter. Haven’t heard back yet (only been 24 hr). Kind of insane if you ask me. Glad it isn’t only showing on my account as they essentially kept insinuating I was making it up.

      What! Are you kidding?
      As someone employed in computer security, I’d be interested to know more about that capability – I know they can connect with you via FaceTime but seeing your screen I did not know about. Do you recall if they initiated something during the chat feature ? Did you at least have to acknowledge it (which really means nothing anyway – just feel good security.

  4. I received this offer in the mail from Amex, and just confirmed that it is active on my account. I suspect that the online offer was probably an error on their end, but the offer is real if you’re meant to get it.
