Special Offer: $0 intro annual fee for the first year of Card Membership, then $95.

Card Benefits

  • 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6K per year in spend
  • 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations and select U.S. department stores
  • 1% cash back everywhere else
  • $95 annual fee (waived first year)

Conclusion

We have seen better offers for the card, $250 bonus with waived fee and offers that mixed with cashback could be as high s $450. This is still a decent offer, but I would wait for something better, unless you really want to get the card now.

  1. Mark,
Do you have an email address for the Blue support group to whom I can complain? Not sure my voice calls are reaching people who care.

    Thanks

    • I don’t have anything outside of the normal channels unfortunately. Another option is to file a CFPB claim

      https://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/

That will usually get a response in a week or so. It hasn’t been as successful as in the past since CFPB has had some power taken from it but it is worth a try imo. Should only take 20 minutes or less to fill out.

  2. I cancelled my Amex Platinum and picked up the Preferred Blue. I needed to do the application (or finish it) online. I’ve spent far more than the level required for the bonus ($20K in the last 3 months) – and paid $90 for the card.

After 3 calls to Amex, they’ve told me that I’m not getting the bonus.

I think I’ll max out the 6% on grocery and cancel the card. Can’t believe how pissed I am over $200.

I’ve been an Amex member since ’89 and they’re going to lose me over this.

  3. I currently have a Blue Cash Everyday card for which I received a bonus four years ago when I applied for it. If I apply now for the Blue Cash Preferred will I still be eligible for this bonus, despite the fact that I have the Blue Cash Everyday version?
