New Amex Offers August 2016
American Express released several new Amex Offers today. Some offers are targeted and some can be loaded via social media if you have your account linked. Let’s take a look.
Sheraton Amex Offer
The Offer
- Get a one-time $50 statement credit by using your connected Card to spend $250+ in a single purchase on room rate and room charges, when you pay for your stay with Sheraton Hotels & Resorts from 8/1/16 to 10/31/16.
Key Terms
- Reservations must be made online at sheraton.com, via one of the SPG mobile apps or by calling 1-800-325-3535.
- Offer only valid at Sheraton® Hotels & Resorts in the US & US territories.

Ritz Carlton Amex Offer
The Offer
- Get a one-time $100 statement credit by using your connected Card to spend $500+ on room rate and room charges, when you pay for your stay with The Ritz-Carlton from 8/1/16 to 11/30/16.

Hilton Amex Offer
The Offer
Get a one-time bonus of 3,000 Membership Rewards® points by using your enrolled Card to spend $200+ on room rate and room charges at a hotel in the Hilton Portfolio, from 7/18/16 to 10/18/16.
Key Terms
- Using any eligible American Express® Card in your name, you must spend a total of $200 or more at hotels and resorts within the Hilton Portfolio in the U.S., including properties in Puerto Rico and Guam, between 7/18/16 and 10/18/16.
- Reservations must be made online at Hilton.com, via the HHonors app or by calling 1-800-445-8667.
- Offer does not apply to advance purchase rates, including Advance Purchase, Save Now & Pay and Non-refundable rates.
- This offer excludes all Hilton Grand Vacations™ properties.
- Offer valid only on room rate and room charges. Offer not valid for stays that are paid for before or after the promotion start and end dates.
- Excludes gift card purchases.
How to Load
This offer can only be loaded to targeted Membership Rewards earning cards on the American Express website.
How to Maximize the Hotel Offers
Each of these hotel offers is similar in that the terms say the credit will be given when payment is made towards room charges. In the past some hotel deals have given credits when purchasing gift cards at a hotel location. I believe Hilton and Ritz both sell gift cards, however I am not 100% sure about Sheraton. Look for data points from others regarding gift cards and if you are paying your hotel costs try to get the offer on multiple cards to stack multiple discounts.
Delta Amex Offer
The Offer
- Get a one-time $200 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a total of $1000 or more on purchases made directly with Delta by 9/30/2016.
Key Terms
- Offer available only to eligible US Card Members for purchases made directly with Delta as the merchant of record, such as (but not limited to) (i) flight reservations made via delta.com, phone, or at ticket counters, (ii) upgrades, miles, seat selection, change fees, bag fees, (iii) Delta Sky Club™ membership or passes, (iv) pre-purchased or in-flight meal purchases, (v) in-flight alcoholic beverages, (vi) audio headsets, movies, shows and video games accessed via Delta’s seatback in-flight entertainment on Delta-operated flights, and (vii) Delta Vacation® packages (but not other all-inclusive packages).
- The following do not count as qualifying purchases and are excluded from the offer: (i) in-flight wireless internet access, (ii) shows, games and movies accessed via a personal electronic device and associated services, (iii) charitable contributions and (iv) SkyMiles Cruises. When you make a qualifying purchase in a foreign currency, the applicable statement credit will be credited in your local currency using the exchange rate at the date the statement credit is applied.

This offer is targeted and thus cannot be loaded via social media and can only be found on the American Express website. According to a Frequent Miler reader, it was found on an SPG card.
How to Maximize
This offer is good if you have upcoming direct air purchases with Delta. The purchases are cumulative meaning you don’t have to spend all of the money in one transaction and as mentioned in the terms, the spend can include more than just your tickets.
Dollar Tree Amex Offer
The Offer
- Get a 1X 4,500 Membership Rewards® points bonus by using your enrolled Card to spend a total of $225+ in one or more eligible transactions online at DollarTree.com by 8/31/16.
Key Terms
- Valid online only at DollarTree.com.
- Excludes Deals & Family Dollar.
- These bonus points are in addition to any points you would normally receive for purchases on your Card under the terms of your Card Member Agreement and the Membership Rewards program.
How to Load
This offer is targeted and thus cannot be loaded via social media and can only be found on the American Express website. According to a Frequent Miler reader, it was found on Business Platinum and Business Gold cards.
How to Maximize
DollarTree.com does sell Dollar Tree gift cards which can be used in-store if you would rather go that route. Given the overall value of the rebate, this offer may be worth looking into more, but my guess is this will be a deal you participate in if you can find products you want to purchase yourself.

Wow!! $225 at DollarTree…that’s a lot when everyone is $1. I still loaded it just in case but don’t think I will ever hit that.
