Analysis

The Staples and Office Depot offers are some of the best offers available. Both merchants sell gift cards and with this offer, you can easily come out ahead. The Staples offer especially with give you a nice profit, but the Office Depot offer as well would more than cover the gift card activation fee. Would be great if we saw any gift card deals soon to stack with these Amex Offers.

All these offers look targeted so make sure you check your accounts and add them before they’re gone.

Conclusion

A good batch of offers from Amex that are guaranteed moneymakers. If you are trying to figure out more about Amex Offers, how to automate loading them to your cards or just about anything else, see: Maximizing Amex Offers: Linking, Automating, Tracking & Scaling Up for Maximum Savings & Profit!

  1. Office Depot has been super shady lately. Last month they ended the MasterCard and Visa gift card instant rebate promos early, and this happened to me today:

I had the $10 off $50 OD/OM Amex Offer on three Business Platinum cards. I tried to buy three $50 retailer gift cards. At the register I asked to do three separate transactions. The cashier said I could not do that. Then I asked if I could do one transaction and split tender across three cards. The cashier said I could not do that. So I asked if I could pay for one $50 gift card and then get back in line and do another transaction. The cashier said I could not do that.

I pressed her for an explanation as to why I could not do any of those options (especially the option of just getting back in line), and she called a manager over. The manager said there was a state law that barred them from doing multiple transactions for gift cards. I asked him to show me the statute. He called a supervisor, they chatted for a minute or so, and then he said the supervisor would look for the law.

While the supervisor “looked,” I paid for one $50 gift card and then waited. I was determined to at least get an explanation. After a few minutes they agreed to let me purchase the other two gift cards separately.

Mind you, there was no rebate on these gift cards (unlike the Visa/MC deals). I was buying them at face value.
