Avis & American Airlines have teamed up for a pretty nice summer bonus promotion running through July 15, 2014.  By renting a car for one or more nights, you can earn bonus Aadvantage miles and up to 35% off as shown in the graphic below.

Analysis

This is a really nice promotion in my opinion. If you have an upcoming car rental, then I would seriously consider using Avis.  Of course it is important not to pay significantly more for an Avis rental just to get the bonus Aadvantage miles.

Even though they claim to be giving 35% off, my experience is that just about any corporate number will give the same discount. This promotion is really about the miles. I actually may have an upcoming rental, so I definitely will be looking into this further.
