Ebates Doubles In Store Cash Back for Many Stores

Ebates Doubles In Store Cash Back for Many Stores

Ebates doubled the in store cash back rate for many stores, for this weekend only.  There are two that piqued my interest, Macy’s and Bed Bath & Beyond, because they currently have Amex Offers as well.  This double stack could be a nice little money maker!

Details on the Offer

The details for the offer are as follows:

This is a good opportunity to get some extra savings for your holiday shopping!  But when pairing them with Amex Offers you can really rack up the savings, or profit.

Using Amex Offers to Make Some Money

Ebates Doubles In Store Cash Back for Many Stores

Macy’s currently has an Amex Offer for $15/1500 MR points for a $100 purchase.  Ebates is offering 5% cash back as well.  When you stack those together that gives you a discount of at least 20%, when paying in $100 chunks.  You can purchase $100 Macy’s gift cards you to lock in the savings.

Ebates has been known to pay out on gift cards in the past. It is possible to sell Macy’s gift cards for 85% with certain reselling relationships.  This would give you a $5 profit per American Express offer plus the points you earned.

Bed Bath and Beyond also has an Amex Offer, get $5 off/500 MR points for a $25 purchase.  The Ebates in store cash back has been increased to 4%.  If your store has a $200 Visa gift card and you split the payment over 8 cards you could get a return of $40 from the Amex Offer.  You would earn another $8 from Ebates.  When you take the gift card fee of $6.95 into account you come away with a profit of $41.05.

Conclusion

The increased rates from Ebates are useful for regular shopping, I may need to hit up Moosejaw this weekend! But they really get interesting when you taking Amex offers into account.

    • None that I know of that work on a regular basis. This only tends to work since it is in store shopping.

  1. Can you explain when “you split the payment over 8 cards you could get a return of $40 from the Amex Offer”? I’m not sure what that looks like, thanks

    • If you have the amex offer on 8 cards (some do) or even 4 cards you just ask the associate to split tender the payment. Put $25 on each Amex card and then bill the remaining on the last one you have an offer on – up to 8 cards.

    • As I said it has worked in the past for Ebates. No reason to think it won’t again – terms have always stated not valid for gift cards.
