FoundersCard: American Airlines Platinum Status and Challenge Returns

FoundersCard: American Airlines Platinum Status and Challenge Returns

FoundersCard has announced that members are entitled to enroll in a “new” benefit that gives members automatic complimentary AAdvantage Platinum Status beginning March 14, 2018 and ending June 12, 2018. Members who enroll will be automatically given a Platinum Status Challenge. If the requirements of the challenge are met, members will keep their Platinum status through January 31, 2019.

This is not the first time FoundersCard has given members AAdvantage Platinum Status and a challenge opportunity. This challenge turns out to be a hugely valuable benefit of FoundersCard membership because the same challenge would cost $500 to enroll through American.

  1. So basically AA is devaluing Platinum status for several months in the middle of 2018 making it harder to get upgrades for Platinums or Golds with extra Platinum challenge folks via Founderscard. Nice.

  2. Bethany,
Can you give us more information about FoundersCard? When I looked them up, it seems they don’t to want to give out much information without having my personal information first.

    • Yes, of course. It’s basically a paid membership that gives members varied perks. Some perks come and go and the value of benefits varies widely. One of the most popular is Total Rewards Diamond Status, it’s a high level elite status with Ceasars and has some really valuable benefits including a free trip to Atlantis and a free yearly dinner. Loyalty program status and retail discounts are often among the benefits.
