Hyatt Regency Valencia Review

Overview

Hyatt Regency Valencia Reviews - Lobby

The Hyatt Regency Valencia is located in the Santa Clarita Valley, a wealthy suburb of Los Angeles. As a category 2 Hyatt property it costs 8,000 points per night. Nightly rates run anywhere from around $150-$200 depending on the day.

The Hyatt Regency Valencia is the only Category 2 property in Southern California and thus represents a decent value.

Location

Hyatt Regency Valencia Reviews
The Hyatt Regency Valencia is located close to Interstate 5, across the street from a mall and down the street from Six Flags Magic Mountain.

The Hyatt Regency Valencia has an excellent location. This isn’t a hotel you will stay in if visiting Los Angeles, however if you need to be in the area, then this is about as good as it gets.

In addition to being located down the street from Six Flags Magic Mountain, the hotel is in a mixed use development and directly across the street from a large mall. There are dozens of shopping & dining options within a five minute walk.

Diamond Amenities

Hyatt Regency Valencia Reviews - Standard Room

I wrote a couple of days ago about how my Diamond status was not verbally acknowledged when checking in, but I was asked if I wanted points or the food/beverage amenity. I chose the points since I am traveling alone.

The other curious thing about this hotel is the breakfast. As a Diamond member, I was given a free breakfast buffet in the morning, however the gratuity was not included. This is the first Hyatt I have ever run into that does this. Normally the food cost, tax & gratuity are all included.

Room

Hyatt Regency Valencia Reviews - Room

My king bed room at the Hyatt Regency Valencia was perfectly comfortable. It isn’t the nicest room I have had at a Hyatt, but it isn’t the worst.

My only slight complaints are the very hard pillows and the lack of counter space in the room and bathroom. There simply wasn’t a lot of space to put stuff. A good example of this is the coffee machine being housed in the closet!

I also have to mention that there was piece of gum or something else stuck in the carpet of my room. Also, the television wasn’t in high definition. I arrived just in time to watch the Packers game, however it was very low quality. HD has been around for fifteen years. I expect better from a Hyatt!

Facilities

Hyatt Regency Valencia Reviews Pool

The Hyatt Regency Valencia has a very nice pool & spa area that sits in the middle of the hotel’s courtyard. It also has a number of gardens and other very pleasant areas.

In addition to a gym, the hotel has a basic business center with pay per use computers. (I hate this!) It also has a number of convention facilities, which are the largest in the area.

Food

My only dining experience at the hotel came in the buffet for breakfast. At $19 per person, it is very pricey in my opinion. In addition to fruit and a selection of pastries and bread, they have a number of hot items including scrambled eggs, potatoes and meat. Additionally you can order eggs cooked to order or an omelette.

In my opinion the food was decent. The only oddity as mentioned before is that the tip isn’t included for Diamond members. Not a big deal, but atypical based on my other experiences as a Hyatt Diamond member.

In my post about having elite status recognized, Jennifer from Jettsetter’s Homestead commented about the staff at this hotel. She mentioned how she feels they aren’t very friendly.

I agree with her assertions. The best way I can describe the staff at this hotel is indifferent. They just don’t seem happy to be there and happy to help. It is very different than what I have experienced at other Hyatt properties.

Conclusion

Hyatt Regency Valencia Reviews

The Hyatt Regency Valencia is a beautiful hotel in a great area. While the rooms are comfortable, they aren’t remarkable in any way. I also feel like the staff could work to be a little more friendly, however for 8,000 points per night, it represents a great value in the Gold Passport program and is a property I would stay at again.
