Amazing St. Maarten Landing Video

Maho Beach in St. Maarten is one of the most famous beaches in the world because of its unique location just meters from the island’s main airport.

I had the pleasure of visiting a couple of years ago and it never got old watching the planes fly just barely overhead. My wife and I spent a couple of hours simply enjoying the water and the plane-spotting.

While most planes that fly into the airport are small to medium size jets, they do get a few larger planes such as the 747-400. Watching one land from the ground can be quite the experience.

I have always wondered just how that approach must look to a pilot. Fortunately KLM has a video on their Youtube channel that shows you the approach and landing from the 747 pilot’s perspective.

Nothing fancy, but just a cool video for the AvGeeks out there. Enjoy!

  1. Good stuff! We stopped in St Marteen on a cruise. I made sure we got to this beach before our US Cup sailboat race. While we didn’t get to see a 747, we did get to see a couple standard passenger aircraft come in. It was an amazing experience to stand under them as they came in to land.
