Membership Rewards Avios 40% Transfer Bonus
Back in 2015 American Express made a change to their partnership with British Airways & Iberia. Up until then Membership Rewards transferred to Avios at a ratio of 1:1. After the change the ratio became 250:200. Thankfully that devaluation was reversed last week and today things are getting even better!

What This Means
As part of this limited time promotion, every 250 Membership Rewards transferred will net you 350 Avios. The promotion should show on your Membership Rewards account when you go to the “Transfer Points” screen. (As shown above.)
Analysis
The best transfer bonus happened a few years ago when they offered 50% more giving a 1:1.5 ratio. With that said, this is a pretty amazing offer considering what you could have gotten from transferring just a few weeks ago. Avios are quite useful for shorter flights (especially outside of the U.S. where flights under 650 miles cost only 4,500) and I tend to keep a nice 5 figure stash around for such flights. My stash is getting a little low and I think it might be time to “re-charge”.
Conclusion
In the age where we are so used to things getting taken away, it is nice to see American Express not only making things slightly better, but also throwing in a cool promotion as well. Now, let’s just hope all of this Avios love doesn’t mean a devaluation of those programs is coming. Happy Xfering!
