It Was A Very Tough Decision But…… (Introducing Our New Team Members!)

Miles to Memories – New Team Members

A little over a month ago I set out to hire a new Contributor/Editor for the site. After posting about the position here, I received an overwhelming response of applicants. (And I want to send out a sincere thank you to everyone who applied.)

Since I wanted to be thorough and make sure to read everyone’s submission carefully, the process of hiring took a bit longer than expected, but in the end I was able to narrow it down to two candidates.

The issue for me was choosing between them. Each person brought their own unique perspective that I felt would be a perfect fit on Miles to Memories. After careful consideration, I decided to hire both! As of this week Miles to Memories has two new Senior Editors, Mark & Bethany! I’ll let them introduce themselves.

Mark

My name is Mark Ostermann. I am a new writer/contributor to the Miles to Memories blog and Facebook group.

When my wife and I started having kids I decided to leave the corporate world to be a stay at home dad (coming up on 6 years now – wow time does fly). Because of that choice I looked at ways to save to money, maximize our budget, and still take awesome vacations even though we had cut our earnings in half. This is when my obsession with travel hacking began. Miles and points has allowed my family to experience more then I ever thought possible. And this site was a big part of that journey so I am very happy to now be a part of it.

What I love most about this hobby is the community atmosphere it provides. I know most of my family and friends are tired of me talking about credit card sign ups, buying discounted gift cards, and shopping portal bonuses etc. This will be a nice outlet to interact with like minded people. I love seeing different points of views and I hope the readers will be willing to have these conversations with me.

I hope I can bring a different perspective to the blog and look forward to getting to know all of the loyal Miles to Memories readers.

I’m Bethany, I live in NY and I have a love (read:obsession) for miles, points and First Class flights. I’ve been an avid follower of Miles to Memories for years and am so lucky to now be a member of the team.

My interest in Travel Hacking started with my first sign up bonus and has flourished from there. Once I realized I could get a $4,000 hotel stay and $2,000 flight for under $100, I was hooked! I’ve spent the last 5 years learning everything I could about loyalty programs and credit card benefits and hope I can use that knowledge to enable our readers to take advantage of all the amazing deals out there.

My favorite vacation destinations are Toronto, Las Vegas and well, pretty much any place with a beach. I love to fly Jetblue and Delta and my favorite hotel programs are Hyatt and Marriott but feel free to ask me about any and all programs. I spend way too much time reading program rules and studying mileage award charts, but in my spare time I enjoy being with my 4 rescue pets and fostering homeless dogs for a rescue.

I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you and sending you on some amazing vacations!

Fresh Content & Awesome Facebook Group

In addition to helping create fresh in-depth content on the website, both Mark & Bethany are going to work to improve our Facebook group as well. We are close to 5,000 members strong in the group and the community that has developed is an amazing one. (Feel free to join us!)
