oneworld’s New Priority Signage

If you have ever been an elite, then you know it can be tough to know which benefits apply where. This is especially the case when you are in a foreign country and are flying on your airline’s alliance partner. Now oneworld thinks they have an answer.

They are introducing new “Priority” branding to all 1,000 airports where oneworld member airlines fly. According to their press release, the first airport to receive the new signage was Perth which, “will be followed by Sydney, Melbourne, Berlin Tegel and Dusseldorf in August, various gateways in the USA from September, and Doha and Amman in October.”

Just in case you aren’t familiar with oneworld benefits, here is what this signage change will mean:

For oneworld Emerald tier card holders, this means:

  • First Class or Business Class check-in desks, which they can use even when booked in Economy Class.
  • Fast track through security checks at select airports.
  • First Class, Business Class or frequent flyer lounges which they can use when flying internationally, even when not booked to fly in First or even Business Class.  oneworld is the only global airline alliance to offer the use of First Class facilities to its highest tier frequent flyers.
  • Priority boarding lines.

For oneworld Sapphire tier card holders, this means:

  • Business Class check-in desks, which they can use even when booked in Economy Class.
  • Business Class and frequent flyer lounges which they can use when flying internationally, even when booked in Economy Class.
  • Priority boarding lines.

For oneworld Ruby tier card holders, this means:

  • Business Class check-in desks, which they can use even when booked to fly in Economy Class (see note below).

As you can see from the image, the signage is quite simple and well designed with just the word Priority and the three tier colors. If your tier color appears then you receive the benefit and if it doesn’t, then you don’t. Simple and easy.

You can find even more info about this new signage along with examples of what it will look like at Business Traveler.

    • True, but there is another easy way to tell. If all three bubbles show then all tiers get the benefit, if two bubbles show then mid and top-tiers get the benefit and if only one bubble shows then only the top-tier get the benefit.
