In late October of last year, I embarked on a nearly three week around the world journey. Starting with a few days in Washington DC with my family, I eventually made my way up to New York before flying to Europe and then on to Hong Kong.

Some time between Amsterdam and Hong Kong, I developed a bad cough which ultimately morphed into a nasty flu by the time I returned home. (Hence the name.) Ultimately I was bed ridden for nearly two weeks upon my return, but it was still worth it.

Sala Respighi Lounge Review

Last November on my around the world trip that included visits to Washington DC, New York City, Milan, Luxembourg, Brussels, Antwerp, Amsterdam & Hong Kong, I stopped in the Sala Respighi lounge in Milan’s Malpensa airport.

To gain entry, I used my Priority Pass membership from my Ameriprise Amex Platinum card. This lounge is the only Priority Pass lounge that is landside at the airport. Since I arrived in Milan on an international flight, I had to clear immigration and my departing flight was on Easyjet leaving out of the budget terminal. (Which not surprisingly doesn’t have a lounge.) With a few hours to kill, I decided to visit the lounge.

As with most Priority Pass lounges, the Sala Respighi lounge is pretty basic. It is quite small, but does feature fairly comfortable furniture. The chairs are arranged in groups, meaning it would be quite difficult to get privacy during busier times. I didn’t have this issue since there was only one other person in the lounge during my visit.

Like most Priority Pass lounges, the Sala Respighi lounge has a decent selection of small snack foods. In addition to fruit, they had cereal, croissants and some small sandwiches. As for drinks there was a full selection including coffee, tea, sodas and a fair selection of alcohol, especially considering it was early in the morning.

As for amenities, the Sala Respighi lounge has WiFi, flight information screens, televisions and a semi-private business area. The restrooms were also very clean and modern as well. I ended up spending a few hours in the lounge and it definitely was nicer than many lounges I have seen. Overall the Sala Respighi lounge is small, but better than most in the Priority Pass program.
