Introduction
Currently the public offer for either of the American Express SPG cards is 25,000 bonus points. (10,000 after first purchase and 15,000 after spending $5,000 within the first six months.) Apparently, SPG and American Express are now offering an even better deal.
SPG 30,000 Bonus Point Offer
Earlier today I received an email asking me to refer friends to SPG. For referring friends, American Express & SPG award 5,000 points for each approved application up to a total of 55,000 points. The really interesting part of this email is that the referral offer is BETTER for applicants than the current best public offer.
The referral offer awards 30,000 bonus points to the applicant. (10,000 after first purchase and 20,000 after spending $5,000 within the first six months.) This is equal to the best public offer ever which comes around once a year. (Usually in the fall.)
SPG points are super valuable since they can be transferred to a plethora of airlines at a 1:1 ratio. Additionally, when you transfer 20,000 points over to an airline, SPG throws in a 5,000 mile bonus. This means that the points transfer over in a 1.25:1 ratio when transferred in 20,000 points increments.

In addition to the bonus points, the SPG cards have the following benefits.

- Receive 5,000 bonus Starpoints when you transfer 20,000 Starpoints to any of nearly 30 participating airline programs.
There is a $65 annual fee which is waived the first year.
Conclusion
In the end, this offer is equal to the best it has ever been for these cards. SPG points are super valuable and this is a great deal if you are in the market for either the SPG personal or business cards.
