American Express and Uber have teamed up to offer a very good promotion for those flying this holiday season. Let’s take a look.

The Offer

This holiday season, American Express® Card Members can enjoy 2 free Uber rides (up to $65 each) originating from select airports. Just enter the code AMEXAIRPORT in your Uber app prior to requesting a ride, select an American Express Card as payment for the ride, and complete your trips before 12/31/16.

Participating Airports

As is mentioned, this promotion only works when taking rides from select airports. Here is a list of all of the eligible airports:

  • LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
  • John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
  • Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • McCarran International Airport (LAS)
  • George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
  • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
  • Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

Key Terms

  • This promotion is only available for American Express Card Members.
  • Prepaid Cards not eligible.
  • This promotion will cover your fare up to $65 per ride. Any amount over $65 will be charged to the American Express Card on your Uber account that is selected as the payment method for the ride.
  • This promotion is valid on all Uber options.
  • You must enter the airport name in the pick-up location in the Uber app when requesting your rides.

  1. Can anyone explain how to make sure the promo is applied to a ride? My first ever ride worked fine, but I’ve had a $25 promo on the app for two weeks , and nine rides later, it’s never been applied. I googled this of course, but no one actually explains this.

    • Hey Bill. I believe you need to have an Amex card linked to your account and you need to select it as the payment method of your ride. Additionally you need to be riding from one of the included airports. As far as I understand it, if you do those things the credit will be done automatically. If you do have issues with a promo not being applied, I have found that Uber customer service is fast and effective.

  2. Shawn.. Looks like this will work only from Airport to the destination but not vice versa.. I live $20 from IAD and not sure if something like this will work.. “Enter pick-up as IAD and then call Uber driver to pick-up from my home and drop me off to IAD”. The math still works for free ride since total will be ~$40 ($20 From IAD to home and $20 from home back to IAD)
