American Airlines 10% Award Rebate

2 Days Left For Card Holders To Use American Airlines 10% Award Rebate

Last month news came out that one of the best airline credit card perks was ending, the American Airlines 10% rebate on award bookings.  This was an easy way to save 10,000 American Airlines miles every year and most people think the perk offset the card’s annual fee.  That perk ends May 1st so I wanted to remind you to use it before you lose it so to speak.

One Crazy Idea

But what if you don’t have any concrete plans put into place?  I shared one crazy idea you could use in a previous article.

Should American Airlines Cardholders Book Award Flights Now? Plus One Crazy Idea!

Conclusion

This was a great perk that brought $150+ in value to anyone who maxed it out.  It was even better if you double dipped it with an AA reduced mileage award.  Only use my one crazy idea if you are pretty sure you would be taking the trip in the next year but are just not sure on the exact date etc.  Otherwise it could wipe out that $150 in value with cancellation fees.

  1. I scored a RT ticket PHL-SFO last week in FC for 50,000 miles and got the 5,000 mile rebate…my last redemption that will feature the rebate. But I think 45K miles for a transcon flight in First is a nice price.

    • Everyone always said it was easy to get the fee waived on that card and they never once offered it for me LOL

  2. My Barclays-issued card gives us until November 1 to use the 10% rebate. I’ve saved the letter I got just in case.
