20K Bonus Bank Americard Travel Rewards

Increased 20K Bonus Bank Americard Travel Rewards

A couple of weeks ago we published a review of the Bank Americard Travel Rewards credit cards. In that review written by PDX Deals Guy, he covered the basics of the card along with its ability to earn up to 2.625% for clients with $100K or more parked at Bank of America or Merrill Lynch. Now the bonus on the card has doubled.

The Offer & Card Basics

20K Bonus Bank Americard Travel RewardsThe Bank Americard Travel Rewards credit card has no annual fee and earns 1.5% back on all purchases. This isn’t great on the surface, but Bank of America high value customers get a bonus on this cashback of up to 75%. In the end, this means the 1.5% can turn into 2.625% when all is said and done.

The bonus of 20,000 points after $1K in spend is worth $200 (or more) towards travel. See the full review for more information on how the card works and you can apply directly with the bank through the link below or through our links on the support page if you wish to support the site.

Multiple BofA Cards

It may be possible to get multiple Bank of America credit cards in one day, although BofA has cracked down on that somewhat. One nice thing is that Bank of America tends to combine inquiries, so applying for multiple Bank of America cards in one day generally only results in one inquiry. I did this back in December when I picked up the Cash Rewards card along with an Alaska Airlines card.

Conclusion

I suggest heading over to the review to see if this card makes sense to you, however either way a $200 (or more) bonus on a no annual fee card is nothing to turn your head at. For me, this card might be in the maybe column just because of the bonus, although Bank of America and I haven’t been on the greatest terms lately so I’ll have to think about it.

  1. This is a minor point, but just a quick reminder to those of you who don’t have Platinum Honors status yet with BofA. It will probably take you at least 3 months to get the status (after you have $100k+ on deposit at BofA or Merrill Edge – including an IRA rollover account). Or one person in the comments of the review said that you can get to the $100k “average 3 month balance” by depositing $300k and waiting just a month. However you get there, just know that you will not be earning 2.625% as you’re working towards your $1000 minimum spend, if you don’t already have status. That said, the difference between 1.5% and 2.625% multiplied by that $1000 minimum spend is only $11.25. And the extra $100 from this increase sign-up bonus (from $100 to $200) is 9x that amount.
