How Cashback Works
This card earns cash, not points. If you have more than one card per account, cash back will be pooled together. Cash back maybe redeemed as statement credit or transferred to an Alliant account, starting at $25. It can’t be used to pay minimum monthly payment on your credit card.
Cashback expires in 5 years, in first in first out basis.
Update: This card will be available to all members beginning in April. More info here.
This is the catch. You can’t apply for the card. It is only available through upgrades. If you already have a Alliant credit card, you can call 800-328-1935 to upgrade to the Alliant Cashback Visa Signature Credit Card.
Alliant usually has a signup bonus for the Platinum card, with targeted offers as high as $500. These offers are sent out to their current members. If you have a checking or savings account with them, you can also try calling to see if you can get approved directly for the Cashback Visa Signature card, instead of an upgrade.
It’s great to see another cashback card offering a tremendous earning rate on all purchases. 3% cashback for the first year is the best cash rate out there. The second year will probably be comparable to other 2% cards since the rate drops to 2.5% and you’re hit with a $59 annual fee.
There’s no application link online and the offer page states that it is available through upgrades only. But you could still try applying by phone, if you are an existing Alliant customer.
