There’s some news today from a couple of low cost carriers with Spirit offering a 50% discount and Frontier expanding into two new airports in the Northeast.

Spirit Airlines, 50 percent off Flights Today

Spirit added a new AirBus A321 that took flight Tuesday as the airline’s 100th aircraft. And that deserves a celebration.

Frontier Expands to Two New Airports

Frontier Airlines will be expanding to two new cities in the Northeast this summer. The ultra low-cost carrier will start flying out of Long Island’s MacArthur Airport in Islip, NY and T.F. Green Airport near Providence, RI.

Frontier will start flying out of Providence on August 14th with daily service to both Denver and Orlando. The Providence airport, located about 60 miles from central Boston, will be Frontier’s only current destination in New England. Frontier says it will be the only carrier flying non-stop between the state capitals of Providence and Denver.

Frontier’s Long Island service will begin Aug. 16 with daily service to Orlando. The MacArthur Airport, about 50 miles east of Midtown Manhattan, will be Frontier’s second current destination in the state of New York. Frontier already flies from New York’s LaGuardia Airport.

Frontier will use Airbus A320 jets that seat 180 to 186 passenger on all of the new routes.
