5X Earning on Gyft With Chase Ink Dead

Is 5X Earning on Gyft With Chase Ink Dead? We Need Your Data Points

I have said in the past that the Chase Ink Cash and Ink Plus are my favorite ways to rack up tons of Ultimate Rewards points.  I recently shared the ways I still earn 5X with my Chase Ink cards too.  But over time we have slowly but surely been hemorrhaging 5X earning opportunities.  First it was PayPal Digital Gifts, then it was CardCash & GiftCardMart and then Swych was the last domino to fall. Gyft was one of the remaining stalwarts that was holding on for dear life but it appears that 5X earning on Gyft with Chase Ink is dead too.

Is It Really Dead?

Reader CJ commented on my what still earns 5X with Chase Ink Business cards post last night that a recent purchase of theirs did not code a bonus.  They posted a screenshot as proof as well.  They did use PayPal to make the purchase with their Chase Ink Cash like you are supposed to do as well.

The purchase was on 8/1/19.  My last Gyft purchase was on 7/21 and it properly coded 5X earning.

We Need Data Points

One data point is just one data point so not a ton to go on.  I tried searching around for more but I couldn’t locate any.  So I am asking for your help.  Can you check your Gyft purchases over the last week and see if it is coding 5X and share the dates of your purchase. I think 8/1 may be the cut off date but that is just a guess.

Final Thoughts

I really hope that this is a glitch or just a random data point.  Gyft is a favorite way to rack up 5X earning of many.  I love when Gyft has discounted gift card sales and I also use it often when making a purchase online at Walmart or Target etc.  This would be another blow to the Chase Ink Cash and Plus lineup. I am hoping this is just a temporary speed bump but things don’t look good from CJ’s photo.

Thanks again CJ for letting us know about this.

  1. Long time Gyft user. Made 8 different purchases on Gyft using my Chase Ink Plus (Visa) during the time period July 27-29 and all have coded as 5X. I always use PayPal to checkout (ie never enter my cr card # directly w Gyft). I have not made a purchase on 8/1 or after, so I’m interested in other data points.

  2. I can only get it to code properly if I pay via PayPal with CIC. However, last week I had multiple purchases on Gyft denied. When I reached out for help, they weren’t too helpful about why they were declined.
