4 Airline ‘Back to School’ Shopping Portal Bonuses
I am a big fan of shopping portals. Online shopping opens up so many opportunities for “Ninja Tricks” and when shopping portals run spending bonuses, opportunities are even greater. Right now four major airline shopping portals are running Back to School bonuses. Here is a complete list and breakdown of these bonuses.
United MileagePlus
You can earn 3,000 bonus miles for $600 in spend. This is perhaps the best of all of the bonuses, especially if you have a use for United miles.

American Airlines AAdvantage
You can earn 2,000 bonus miles for $500 in spend. A great added bonus still, with as much as 4x extra miles.

Southwest Rapid Rewards
You can earn 2,000 bonus miles for $500 in spend. The same bonus offered by American Airlines, so it just comes down to what miles you value more.

Delta SkyMiles
You can earn 1,000 bonus miles for $350 in spend. This is the worst bonus in the list, but again it could be enticing to some who need more SkyMiles in their accounts

- Bonus Earning rate at highest tier: 3.33X

Full Analysis
To complete all of these shopping portal bonuses you would need to spend $1,950 and would be awarded 8,000 bonus points/miles in addition to the normal portal payout. In almost all cases it makes sense to do this if you have the opportunity.
If you notice, all of these promotions end on the same date and even though they have different starting dates, they’re all available as of today. My best advice if you don’t think you can spend that much is to form a strategy. Look at which points/miles mean the most to you and also look to see which portal tiers you can hit. The first three bonuses come with three tiers and the last one with two, so that should help if you don’t plan to spend a lot.
Conclusion
With all of these deals you are earning at least an additional 3.33X to 5X on top of the normal portal payout and any credit card rewards you get. For that reason, I would keep these bonuses in mind when you are shopping online over the next couple of weeks. Mst likely these bonuses will yield the best rates at lots of merchants.
