Conclusion

This is the highest offer we have seen for the Bank of America Alaska Airlines card. Back in October some people were targeted with a similar offer that required $9,000 in spend within 6 months. This time around it is a bit better, as you need to spend $8,000.

  1. I was targeted, but I just closed the same card in November. Are there any data points of people getting the bonus twice within the 24 month period?(a boy can dream right?)

  2. My son got the offer but has no interest. He gets his mail at our home address. He is named after his dad, just a different suffix. Do you think my husband can use the offer?

  3. My SO received her offer yesterday via USPS with the terms shown above. She has no relationship with BOA and hasn’t had an Alaska Air card since 2014. On the other hand, I have had a banking relationship with BOA since the 1990s and wasn’t targeted, likely because I’ve had 15-20 Alaska cards over the years (but none now).

  4. These folks at BOA can be rascals when it come to approvals. My last attempt was unsuccessful. They pulled Experian and that wasn’t good ( too many new accounts). So here’s my plan I opened a CD, so I now have a banking relationship, and I did a security freeze on my Experian credit. Do you think this will make a difference? Last attempt was early July. How long should I wait before a new app?
    Thanks jim

    • Can I convert the Alaska Airlines VISA I got a month ago (via only the 40,000 mile offer) to get this 65,000 offer I got in the mail today? The key difference is the extra 25,000 miles if I spent $8,000 in the next 5 monthsz which is easily possible since daycare has reopened. Who would I call? or should I just apply for the new card? Or should my wife apply for the new card, if she even can since it was mailed to me? We were supposed to take a trip in April via Alaska airlines, but cancelled it and have a credit. Our youngest will likely turn 2 before we actually take this trip, so miles will help defray that extra cost.

        • I called Bank of America and they said there is no way. They will only issue one Alaska card per person per 24 months. And they cannot put new offers onto existing cards. The only thing I could do is apply in my wife’s name using the promotion code that came. One thing I have learned with Alaska Airlines credit cards is that if you have a freeze on the account or fraud alert, they won’t grant you credit. So you have to remove those first.
