Amazon Reload Membership Rewards Promo

Amazon has a nice little promotion for reloading your gift card balance. It’s targeted, but many people seem to be eligible. Let’s take a look.

The Offer

Receive a $15 promotional credit when you reload your Amazon balance with at least $100, use at least 1 Membership Rewards point and use the promo code AMEXRELOAD15.

How It Works

“In order to qualify for the promotional credit, this must (1) be the first time reloading your Amazon.com Gift Card Balance and the reload amount must be at least $100; (2) you must be an eligible Amazon Prime member and use the Amazon Prime account into which you are currently logged in; (3) purchase the reload using an eligible American Express Card, where Membership Rewards points are used for at least a portion of the purchase; and (4) Click the button above to automatically add the promotion to your account, or alternatively enter the promotional code “AMEXRELOAD15” in the “Gift Cards & Promotional Codes” box on the checkout page before you go to the reload page.”

Key Terms

  • This is a limited time offer that is good while supplies last. 
  • The offer only applies to the first reload on your Amazon.com Gift Card Balance associated with your Amazon Prime membership. 
  • This limited time offer and associated promotional code expire at 11:59 PM (PT) December 22, 2018. Any promotional credit remaining unredeemed after February 6, 2019 11:59 PM (PT) will be forfeited. 
  • You must reload at least $100 in a single transaction to qualify. 
  • You must purchase the reload on your Amazon.com account with an eligible Prime membership, using an eligible American Express Card, where Membership Rewards points are used for at least a portion of the purchase 
  • For qualifying purchases, a promotional credit of $15 will be automatically applied to the Amazon.com account that was used to reload your Amazon.com Gift Card Balance within three (3) days after completing the qualifying reload using American Express Membership Rewards points. 

Analysis

Most people seem to be eligible if they have a Prime Membership (including a Prime 30 day free trial), have a Membership Rewards card linked to their account and if they haven’t ever reloaded their balance before. If you qualify and shop on Amazon, then it’s like free money. Just make sure you only use 1 point since redeeming Membership Rewards on Amazon is a bad value.
