American Express Platinum Card Travel Chat Option
Fellow Anti-socials rejoice, one less personal interaction we need to have throughout the day! I know you’re probably all sick of me talking about my latest discoveries regarding Amex, but I think you’ll be happy about this one. It’s much better than that crazy new Travel Collection “benefit” where the rep tried the old bait and switch on me!
Lately, I’ve found a way to use Amex chat to book travel. Not only can you book your regular travel through them but they are the same agents who have access to the International Airline Program and those awesome American Airlines Private Fares. To make the chat as useful as possible, I simply write down a bunch of itineraries and type them into the chat box. The CSR then give me prices for each fare. Flights booked this way are subject to the $39 booking fee.
Is Travel Chat Targeted?
Truthfully? I’m not sure. It would appear this new feature is only available on certain cards or I suppose it could be targeted by accounts. I called Amex Travel and asked two different agents and neither one was aware of the existence of Travel chat agents. This leads me to believe the program is being tested, but of course it could be a perk specific to the Business Platinum Card.

How to Access Amex Travel Chat
Login to your American Express Business Platinum Account and navigate to Book Travel in the upper left hand drop down menu. It definitely doesn’t come up every time. I have found that it pretty much always comes up when I click Book Flights but not hotels. Click here for the exact URL.
Conclusion
This new feature has saved me a ton of phone time, but remember that chatting is definitely not the most efficient way to get things done. I have definitely made use of it while I was unable to call or on another call. Do NOT use amex travel to book airline tickets. I only use the sevice when redeeming points and there is always some issues and calling takes forever. The airline cannot help as it is booked with amex. I am
