Amex Business Platinum WeWork

Amex Business Platinum WeWork Sign-Up

About a year ago American Express “enhanced” their Business Platinum card with some new features. Among them was a one year membership to WeWork. Here is how the Amex Business Platinum WeWork benefit is explained:

Get access to over 300 workspaces around the world with one year of complimentary WeWork Platinum Global Access—exclusively for American Express U.S. Business Platinum Card Members. Enroll by 12/31/2019 to get this offer (a $2,700 value).

Apparently the Amex Business Platinum WeWork benefit is going away as of December 31, but there is still time to lock-in your one year membership. Let’s go through the process of signing up if you are an Amex Biz Plat cardholder.

Amex Business Platinum WeWork Sign-Up

To sign-up for your Amex Business Platinum WeWork membership benefit, simply visit the special offer page. You will need the following to sign-up:

  • Amex Business Platinum card number
  • Business info including: name, address, number of employees and phone number

Waiting For Approval

After you submit the form on the offer page, WeWork sends a confirmation explaining it can take a few business days for the membership to get processed. For me it took about 24 hours to receive the welcome email after signing up for my membership.

Activating WeWork Membership

The welcome email from WeWork included a link to get started on my account. From there I completed a few more steps before activating my membership which allowed me to book spaces. I will say the account activation involves a lot of questions. They will want to know your job title and skills plus other info about your business.

I tried to skip as much of the information as possible, but it made sense once I got into my account as to why they ask for it. WeWork is trying to put together a social network of sorts and their interface will remind you of LinkedIn or Facebook once you login. No worries if you don’t want to get social, because after activating your account you’ll have full access to book workspaces.

Using the WeWork Membership to Book Workspaces

Amex Business Platinum WeWork

As far as I can tell the WeWork membership you get includes unlimited “hot desks” or reserved work spaces. Additionally, you can book private rooms for “credits”. A small room at my local WeWork location costs 1 credit which is $25. Some larger rooms cost 1.5 credits or even more.

While I didn’t book a workspace, I was easily able to view space at my two local locations and get to the final confirmation screen to book. (Screenshot above.) As expected “hot desk” workspaces are 0 credits with this Amex Platinum membership, meaning I should be able to book them complimentary whenever I want.

Bottom Line

While I still plan to give the Amex Business Platinum WeWork membership more of a test drive, I wanted to get this out there to remind American Express Platinum holders to sign-up. With this benefit not getting removed, you only have until December 31 to sign-up for your one year membership.

  1. I just signed up today. I knew it expired 12/31 and was waiting. Ill use it on occasion when I am out of town and want to work out at a place other than m hotel room. I think it will be a better environment for me to be more productive.

  2. For work from home folks interested in a non-home work environment, WeWork is a no brainer…seriously. My employer utilizes WeWork, and it’s a Godsend both at home and on the road. Finding a quiet spot in an otherwise “public” space has been no problem for me.

  3. Can the card member give the membership to someone else? I have the card and have no use for wework but know someone who could use it.
