American Express Now is Going After Dell Credits

American Express keeps clawing back everything, even a few bucks here and there. These latest clawbacks are for Dell purchases.

As you know, the Amex Business Platinum card offers a $200 credit on Dell purchases. You get up to $100 in statement credits between January and June and up to $100 in statement credits between July and December for U.S. purchases with Dell on your Business Platinum Card when enrolled.

But they have also had a 10% Dell Amex Offer. Those two have stacked together so far, but now they are clawing back the 10% portion of the credit that was already credited to you through the Amex Offer.

It also looks like there might be some clawbacks for gift cards purchases from Dell. There’s only one or two mentions of this, so might not be a big deal yet.

Conclusion

Some of these latest clawbacks are just for a few dollars. So as we have mentioned recently, Amex is really going everything. But hey, if you weren’t shut down, you should be happy.

  1. I got a laptop with 3 BPs but I need to return it, and they credit he original mode of payment, any clue what happens to the $200 and 10% credits?

    • @Judah Did you ever make this return? What happened? I need to exchange something and am worried about the same thing. Dell won’t let me do an exchange or get Dell credit. It has to go back to the original cards. Since it is now the second half of the year I’m afraid Amex will take back the credit and I’ll never get to use it again.

  2. I’m increasingly glad I canceled my AMEX Biz Plat card. I grabbed a router from Dell before I dumped the card. These claw back efforts make the recent insecure statements about Chase even that much more amusing!

  3. If they have an offer, that is one thing. If you use the credit that you basically PAID for, then that should be separate from the 10%. It is a separate thing. Clawing either back is just complete bull crap!
