Amex Offers Daisy Chain

About an hour ago I covered the amazing new targeted Amex Offer for Bloomingdale’s. Head over to my original post to find out the details and how to see if you are targeted. This is one deal you will want to load right away.

A Daisy Chain Offer

After finding out about the deal and writing about it, I headed to Bloomingdales.com and bought a $200 e-Gift card to test the waters. Almost immediately I got the “Congratulations” email, but this time it was a little different.

Yup, as you can see using the online offer triggered another offer for using my same card in-store at Bloomingdale’s. After clicking “Learn More” I found out the details.

New Amex Offer

As a thank you for using your Card to redeem the Bloomingdale’s $75 statement credit offer, your same Card has been automatically enrolled in another special offer from Bloomingdale’s. Get a one-time $30 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $150+ in one or more transactions in-store at Bloomingdale’s by 10/30/2017.

Key Terms

  • Enrollment limited.
  • Valid in store only.
  • Valid at any participating location in the US.
  • Excludes DryBar, restaurants, Nespresso boutiques, Skin Spa, personal shopping services, in-store events, studio services, clothing alterations, furniture delivery fees, WorryNoMore Warranties, travel services, charitable donations, same day deliveries/return pickup service from Delivery, in-store purchases using bWallet, business gifts and visitor services.
  • Excludes Blue Mercury, Bloomingdale’s outlet, Macy’s and Macy’s Backstage. Offer is non-transferable.

Analysis

While 20% off in-store is not as good as 37.5% off online, I still think the triggered offer is pretty good if you can sell gift cards at a decent rate. I suspect many people will be able to make a small profit on the in-store offer too. Of course Bloomingdale’s has a limited footprint and I probably won’t get to test it out since the only Vegas store has now closed.

Either way though, let’s hope that this new daisy chain offer scheme is here to stay!
