Another Delta Devaluation

Another Delta Devaluation! Biz Class To Europe 22% More Expensive

Unlike other airlines, Delta no longer published an award chart. They treat both their paid and award tickets the same way, so you are not guaranteed a fixed price. While award prices haven’t really changed much until now, the new system allows Delta to devalue SkyMiles without actually announcing it to its loyalty program members.

One of those devaluation has happened recently. Until now Delta offered award travel between the US and Europe for 86,000 SkyMiles one-way in business class. It appears that Delta has increased that price to 105,000 miles each way. That’s a huge increase, a 22% price hike.

However, Delta continues to still charge 86,000 SkyMiles for many partner business class award tickets. So that might be the best route for now if you have a stash of SkyMiles.

Conclusion

We do not know if this it temporary, or if 105,000 SkyMiles is the new standard price. As I mentioned above, with no award chart, there’s really no way to know.

  1. 105k seems like a bargain compared to the rates that always show up on their website when I search for availability! The DL program is truly horrible unless you want to spend huge amounts on redemptions!
