According to their own data, Cayman Islands has the highest cost of living, so I guess you need to be wealthier to live there than in the U.S. in a place like Miami, Florida? What’s more, Miami’s median, per capita income is far, far less than cities like San Francisco or New York but its’ buying power is higher compared to Georgetown, Cayman. If the annual per capita income is roughly the same but the buying power in Miami is twice that of Georgetown, I would end up by saving more money and become wealthier in Miami, right? The exercise is far more complex than that. And again, we don’t know how wealth is defined. I am more concerned about what things cost abroad compared to Los Angeles, so I go to numbeo.com for comparisons. For me, cost of living is a better indicator how much better or worse I would be living in a foreign country (excluding many other considerations, like crime). Personally, I don’t care about tons of billionaires living in the Cayman Islands. They should be outliers in the study. You can use numbeo.com to do many comparisons of cost right down to the cost of a Big Mac in two different cities! Lots of data on their site.
