British Airways Avios Hotel Transfer Bonus

British Airways Avios Hotel Transfer Bonus

British Airways loves to offer transfer bonuses with their partners. We often see bonuses for their credit card partners and now some of the hotel chains they work with are getting some love. Let’s take a look.

The Offer

Enjoy a 30% bonus when you convert your hotel points into Avios

Need to Know

  • Transfer between March 1 – March 31, 2019 to get the bonus
  • No registration is required

You can find the full terms on the offer page.

Hotel Partners

British Airways Avios works with the following partners on hotel transfers:

  • Marriott Bonvoy
  • Hilton Honors
  • IHG Rewards Club
  • World of Hyatt
  • Radisson Rewards
  • Shangri-La Golden Circle

Analysis

Transferring hotel points to airline miles is almost never going to be a good deal, so be prepared to lose a lot. Still, if you have some hotel points that are stranded and need a top off, then this could make sense I suppose. This transfer bonus comes out every year, with last year’s being a bit better at 35%.

As One Mile at a Time points out, Bonvoy may be the only real option worth considering. If you do it exactly right then you can get a value that isn’t going to make you throw up in your mouth.

Conclusion

While this isn’t the best transfer bonus we see for British Airways Avios, I know many of us get stuck with orphaned points so it could make sense to participate. I always keep a nice chunk of Avios in my accounts since I use them often and have scored some amazing deals when redeeming them!
