Capers Cafe No Longer In Priority Pass Program
Update: It appears the Priority Pass Twitter team was wrong.
Earlier today we broke the news that Capers Market was no longer participating in the Priority Pass program. At the time the sister property Capers Cafe was still participating in the program at Portland’s airport (PDX). It appears that is no longer the case after today.
Stephan Segraves got the bad news on Twitter from Priority Pass that says both are no longer in the program at the end of the day.

This is rough news for West Coast travelers. The two Capers establishments were ranked by many as the best options in the Priority Pass network. As you can see above the distillery and Alaska Lounge will still be options in the terminal. It should be noted that the Alaska Lounge often blocks entry to Priority Pass cardholders which is why the addition of the two Capers locations were so welcomed.
This is a major devaluation to Priority Pass cardholders based out of Portland though.

This is so bad! The cafe this morning told us it would be a 25 minute wait for to go food. The store was the best part of priority pass. I have convinced 4 people to get the Amex in the last 6 months because of this perk. Now, it’s just not worth it! Sad day!
To all our Customers, Capers Cafe LeBar In C Concourse at PDX, is still a proud member of the Priority Pass family in Portland, Oregon. We continue to welcome Priority Pass cardholders.
Priority Pass for control purposes, will only allow Capers Cafe LeBar to accept Priority Pass. This was done in order to control passengers from using the PP card multiple times in one location.
We hope to have the benefit restored for passengers in the near future.

Hi All- just found out you can call Capers at 503-252-1718 or email at sales@caperscafe.com to complain. They told me it was Priorty Pass who kicked them out of the program. The restaurant still works. So clearly both sides are blaming the other.
Can you use the cafe upon return or only departure? Thanks
I believe the terms say only on departure but people have been able to do both for the most part.
Being based out of pdx, this will make me take a hard look at even having a PP and my credit card that goes with it. Essentially Portland has no PP lounges anymore (considering the alaska lounge always has the restriction sign up now and the distillery is just alcohol)
Good news Derick it appears that the PP Twitter person was wrong and the cafe is staying in the program. I called the restaurant to confirm this a few minutes ago!
My wife and I enjoyed a few good bloody mary’s at Capers about a year ago. I’m surprised I’ve never seen a “comment” regarding the vendor’s point of view. What is their reimbursement of the “up to $28”. I doubt their contract is dollar for dollar; is it 60%? 80%? maybe it is dollar for dollar? What is the time frame for reimbursement? Once the contract/arrangement was made between the restaurant and PP, I’d think the only reasons PP would terminate is really bad reviews or assertions of fraud.?? Why would the vendor cancel? slow pay or reimbursement rate? I’d be interested in hearing about the business relationship between PP and the vendor behind the scenes. Can any of the Boarding Area bloggers get the scoop?
My guess is PP ended the partnership because the two locations were costing them too much money. Many people would hit both on take off and landing. Especially the market, it was way too easy to max out. I imagine that the places got somewhere in the mid $20 range for the $28 credit. That is just a guess on my part though. I will see if we can get some info on it though to follow up.
This is definitely sad news, Mark. It has been very convenient for a lot of travelers. I’ll share this with my friends so they know too.

Well that’s a bummer. Our family of four could usually get a nice meal using two free PP visits. Hopefully they will find another restaurant in PDX soon.
It was great value and the distillery doesn’t work for families and the Alaska lounge is hard to get into so this is terrible news for PDX flyers.
