Travel Family 'Round The World

Family 'Round The World

These articles were posted during our very first big international trip when the website was called Family 'Round The World. (www.familyrtw.com) From 2007-2008 my wife and then six year old son traveled around the world with me and I chronicled the first year of our adventures on the road. These posts cover travel across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Central America, Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia. Enjoy!

Happy Anniversary To Us!

Day 326 - Tuesday March 11, 2008 Singapore We ultimately didn’t do much on Tuesday, but that was okay since it was our seventh wedding anniversary....

Bumboating & Safaris in Singapore

Not letting the rain get us down, we visited the historic area of Singapore along the river. This area is where the city was founded and is home to many of the area's most interesting sites!

Exploring Singapore’s Ethnic Neighborhoods

Singapore is home to a diverse range of people. From Westerners to Chinese and Malay to Indian, almost all cultures are represented here. Today we visited Chinatown, a Hindu temple and one of the most beautiful mosques we have ever seen!

Southeast Asia Here We Come!

After spending months in Australia, we boarded a plane from Brisbane for a short stopover before ultimately heading on to Singapore. We were ready for the new adventures awaiting us in Southeast Asia and couldn't wait to get there!

Finishing Up In Queensland!

Our final days in Queensland were wrapped in more bad weather and being cooped up in our hotel room. By this point we felt the people in this area of Australia were so different than those down south. Whether it was us or them, it was time to move on and we were looking forward to seeing Darwin before our flight on to Singapore.

Crikey!

Our visit to the Australia Zoo in early 2008 came at a time not long after Steve Irwin was killed. Since I was a fan of Irwin, visiting was an exciting thing for me. The zoo turned out to be large and impressive and their collection of Australian animals was second to none!

An Amazing Nighttime Experience

During our time in Northern Queensland we visited one of my favorite places of the whole trip. The turtle hatchery at Mon Repos is a protected piece of beach where sea turtles lay their eggs by the thousands. We were blessed enough to watch some of these eggs hatch and the baby turtles make their way into the ocean for the first time!
