Key Terms

  • Hotel purchases must be made through Chase Ultimate Rewards
  • The bonus cash back earned is in addition to the cash back you earn on all purchases for a total of 10% cash back, which means you can earn up to $250 total cash back
  • Bonus cash back will post to your account within a week of the transaction posting, and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement and be available for use within 1-2 billing cycles.

Conclusion

Earning 10X Ultimate Rewards for your hotel bookings it’s a nice discount, but you need to book through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal. That means that you will not earn points or be able to use your status at most hotels. But you will most likely still come out ahead with the 10X earning. Be sure to compare prices and see if you can book cheaper elsewhere.

  1. I have the CSR card and this promotion is showing up on my account when I log in. However Susan is right, it is saying “using your Chase Freedom Unimited card” which I don’t have. So that is weird that the promo shows up in my account. I went ahead and booked a hotel stay and didn’t get the 10x automatically. I called Chase and they created an escalation inquiry. So don’t know what will happen yet. Will update.

  2. The Dan’s Deals post you link to says it’s only Freedom and Freedom Unlimited. I have the Freedom and CSR – when I click the promotion link and log in to my Freedom I see the promotion, but the terms at the bottom of the page only mention CFU. “During the promotional period of March 1 to March 31, 2019 11:59 p.m. E.T., earn an extra 8.5% cash back on up to $2,500 in combined hotel purchases made through Chase Ultimate Rewards® using your Chase Freedom Unlimited card…”

  3. You can get a more significant discount purchasing hotels.com gift cards through a portal when Raise.com has a sale.

  4. Sounds good on the surface but YMMV. In my case, booking a 4-night stay using the Expedia portal yields a price, after you add breakfast that was over $200 more than booking direct with free cancellation not to mention the points earned using my other card.
