Citi Sears Spending Offer 11X
Back in the last century a young kid (my wife) opened up a Sears credit card. Eventually she got married and added her husband to the card and at some point it converted into a Mastercard with a rewards scheme. Then awhile back Citi changed our rewards to ThankYou points!
While my wife and I keep this account open because it’s old, we rarely use it due to the very low credit limit. Of course, there are ways to get us to pop it out of the old sock drawer. 11X anyone?
Note: Some people have the Sears Mastercard that earns Shop Your Way Rewards. That card has 5%/3%/2% bonus categories. The ThankYou version of the card only earns 1X everywhere so I would earn 1,000 points from the normal spend plus a 10,000 point bonus if maxing out this promotion.
New Sears 11X Spending Offer
In the past year I have received one other 11X offer along with a 6X offer as well. Here is the latest version I received the other day.
It offers 10X ThankYou points in addition to the 1X the card normally earns whenever I spend at Gas Stations, Grocery Stores and Restaurants. There is a cap that is as follows.
While my previous 11X offer had a cap of 10,000 points, this one is still very good, but it gets even better. This offer is good for 3 months and the cap resets each month.
The full offer text reads as follows:
Earn 10X bonus ThankYou points on eligible purchases at Gas Stations, Grocery Stores and restaurants for total eligible purchases of $200 or more made each month 10/01/17 – 12/31/17 up to a total of 6,000 Bonus Points each month.

- This promotion is not transferable; is only for use with the Sears Mastercard listed in this email; is subject to credit approval and the Citi ThankYou Rewards Terms and Conditions for Sears Card Accounts located at thankyou.com.
- To qualify for this promotion, you must activate this promotion before the end of the promotional period. You have the opportunity to receive 10X Bonus ThankYou Points (10X Bonus ThankYou Points per dollar spent) on eligible grocery store, gas station and restaurant purchases which total $200 or more (up to a maximum total of 6,000 Bonus ThankYou Points each month) and which are made with your Sears Mastercard between 10/01/17 – 12/31/17.
- These Bonus ThankYou Points are in addition to the 1 ThankYou Point per $1 spent on purchases that you already earn with your card.
Analysis
Anytime you can earn 11X points in a fairly easy category, then the offer is good. In this case I should be able to earn an easy 18,000 ThankYou points without too much effort. I plan to focus on the grocery category and will try to combine gift card/fuel points promotions to gain even more.
Also remember these ThankYou points can be moved (up to 100K per year) into my ThankYou Premier or Prestige accounts where I can book airfare at 1.25 cents each or transfer them to travel partners.
Conclusion
I simply love targeted spending offers, especially on cards that are just sitting in the sock drawer. This year alone Citi and Sears have given me thousands of bonus points for shopping and I’ll continue to take advantage as long as they continue to offer!

I just (10/24/2017) spent $17,600.00 on a new roof. I was told that I would receive $2600.00 in store credit. How does this work? Does anyone know.
I think that the more you max out on these Sears Citi targeted offers, the higher the bonus can get the next time around. My current minimum offer is spend $1500, get 15,000 Thank You points, and my maximum is spend $4500, get 45,000 Thank You points (each month)! Target and Whole Foods have been coding as Grocery which is great, especially during the 4th quarter holiday season.
