I received an emailed Delta Skymiles Experiences today so I decided to poke around a bit.  This is nothing new since many other loyalty programs have something similar like the old SPG Moments or Hilton’s concert series etc. But I was not aware of Delta’s program until today.

What Kind of Value Can You Expect?

That is a really tough question to answer since it is a bidding format and you don’t know what things will go for until the bidding ends.  After looking around a little I found some pairs of Yankees tickets to the Delta 360 Suite for 5,000 Skymiles right now (which is bound to go up some).  That bidding ends today so you may be able to get a steal there.

There were other concerts, sporting events and dining experiences. There are some really extravagant options like: Adams and Butler’s 6-night experience in Ireland. That option is already bidding over 500K right now. If you are interested in one of the experiences and have some Skymiles to burn this could be useful.  I think it is possible to score some great value if you are patient and strike when a particular venue is overlooked etc.

Conclusion

With Delta trying harder and harder to push the value of their Skymiles down to 1 cent a piece this may be another way to get some extra value.  I imagine most of the time you would do better using the miles towards flights but there may be a diamond or two hiding in this rough.  Let me know if you see anything of interest.  At the bear minimum this gives those that complain that they can’t use their Skymiles another option.
