Another Way to Get Discover’s 5% Choose a Store Promo

Yesterday I wrote about Discover’s extra 5% “Choose a Store” promotion. After writing the post, several readers responded that the offer wasn’t showing up in their accounts. Apparently it is targeted.

Luckily, there may still be a way to get the offer. Mileswhip on Twitter sent me a direct link to the offer.

How To Register

To get the offer to work, first login to your Discover account and then open this link in your browser. You must first login to your account to get it to work. If you do it right, you should be at the “Choose a Store” screen (as shown above) where you can choose which store pays the bonus and activate it on your account.

Of course this is a workaround and there is always a chance Discover will not honor the promotion, but it is worth a try. I highly suggest doing this as soon as possible, since no one knows how long this loophole will be open. Happy saving!

  1. Does anyone know if you can buy gift cards at Walgreen’s/Lowes with Discover? If so, is it limited to retail stores, or can you buy Visa GC’s?

    Thanks!

    • Some Lowe’s and Walgreens allow you to purchase gift cards with credit cards. It really depends on the stores in your area. For example in my area you can buy some gift cards at Lowe’s but Walgreens is cash only even for merchant gift cards!

  2. could I buy Walgreens gift cards online to earn cashback through a portal and then use those gift cards to buy visa gift cards in the Walgreens store?
