eBay Targeted Promotions

I cover a lot of deals on this blog and thus receive way too many marketing emails. Most of them stink and if this wasn’t my job I would probably sever many of my subscriptions. It gets tiring wading through a sea of junk just to find a jewel.

With that said, one company I would always stay subscribed to is eBay. They have been really good about sending out targeted offers to members and those offers are generally very good. Here are a couple of targeted offers I received this week.

4x eBay Bucks

Normal purchases on eBay earn 2% cashback in the form of eBay Bucks. With this promotion I earned 8% back on all eBay purchases over $100. The best part is that it works on gift cards.

During this particular promotion I didn’t find too much to purchase, but in the past I have done quite well. The best part is this is the 4th time in the past few months I have been targeted. I really love these promotions.

$25 for Selling

This week I also received another promotion that is quite good. I have never been a heavy seller on eBay, but I dabble from time to time. Perhaps it has been too long since my last sale, so the company is trying to incentivize me to return.

The only thing I need to do to get my $25 eBay gift card is to sell an item for $25 or more. I happen to have a few things I need to sell lying around, so this promotion came at the perfect time. Hopefully my reputation score will be increasing by one!

Conclusion

I usually receive a lucrative offer from eBay at least every couple of months and generally more frequently. Since the 5x game on eBay has become quite nice, I find myself shopping on the site quite often. If these types of promotions continue, eBay will continue to have my heart and my business.

  1. Where in your eBay account can you check to confirm that you’re set up for offers? I haven’t received anything, ever, and I can’t find the section in my account to view the settings.

It would be cool to see a list (perhaps just your top 10 or 20) of subscriptions to various sites (that sell something) that you gain the most value from.

    • Go to My eBay and the click on Account. The Account link is sort of hidden under “My eBay: Summary”. Once you are on the “Account” screen then click “Communication Preferences”. Once in there you should see all of your settings for communication. Go into “Promotions & Surveys” to make sure you are opted-in for marketing.

It is actually very well hidden!

      • When I’m in my wife’s account and click the drop down to “show” the promotions and surveys communications, its blank! There’s nothing to click. Yet when I’m in my own account I was able to select some promotional options. Really weird and it can’t be a system glitch if I used the same browser and had no issues with my account.
