Escape Lounge at CVG Review: Shockingly Good, But There Is One Drawback

Escape Lounge at CVG Review

The other day I tortured my family with a redeye flight from Las Vegas to Cincinatti (CVG) on our way to Walt Disney World. With so many direct flights to Orlando from Las Vegas I normally don’t connect, however I sacrificed for the amazing Delta Vacations deal. I was also excited to try out the airport’s newest lounge! Here is my Escape Lounge CVG review.

How to Get Into the Escape Lounge at CVG

Escape Lounge at CVG Review

There are a few ways to gain entry to the Escape Lounge at CVG. Day passes are available for $45 (although I saw them offering a $30 rate for first-timers as a promo), but the real deal is using the American Express Platinum card to gain entry for free. Amex Platinum cardholders get complimentary access which includes two guests.

Escape Lounge Size (It’s Small)

The Escape Lounge at CVG opened about a month ago in Concourse B and is a pretty impressive place overall. Before I go any further, I should say it is very very small at maybe 800-1,000 square feet if that. (I didn’t measure!) The size doesn’t tell the whole story though, since the lounge is decorated with very attractive and contemporary decor.

Here is a look at the entirety of the lounge. I took the photo standing on the far end.

Escape Lounge at CVG Review – The Bar

This Escape Lounge at CVG features a full service bar. We arrived at the lounge just as it opened at 5am, so we didn’t booze it up. Although, I suppose the phrase, “It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere” would apply given the time. Alcohol is complimentary and the selection was decent for a lounge like this.

Food & Drink

In addition to sodas, water and juice, the Escape Lounge at CVG has a nice variety of food. I was very impressed that they put out a full selection of food even at 5am. There was a great selection of bread and pastries, some very good meats and cheeses and even a few hot dishes served in individual cast iron dishes. Both the French Toast and Enchilada dish were delicious. It was some of the tastiest lounge food I have had in awhile. Shocking for 5am.

I would go back to CVG for both of these dishes.

Escape Lounge Seating

The Escape Lounge at CVG has an ample variety of seating, although admittedly there isn’t a lot of it. With the lounge being small there are no pockets to hide away. You’ll become friendly with everyone else in the lounge which is fine. I think during our stay we peaked at about 7 people which wasn’t bad. If there were 40 it would be a different story.

Escape Lounge at CVG Review – Bottom Line

The Escape Lounge at CVG is a winner of a lounge in my book. I had the displeasure of experiencing The Club at CVG Priority Pass lounge earlier this year and I can say without hesitation this new lounge is leaps and bounds better. The food was high quality and delicious, the seating was comfortable and the staff was great. The only knock on this lounge is size, so hopefully it doesn’t end up becoming overcrowded.

  1. Shannon was amazing. She explained everything and made sure we were well taken care of. Will definitely be back.

  2. Similar to you, I took advantage of the Delta Vacation package to LVS from ORD through Minneapolis. We went to the Escape lounge at Minneapolis and found the food in the lounge to be restaurant quality and we loved it. Minneapolis airport is also one of the best in north America.

A wonderful and attractive new lounge which is a great deal for American Express Platinum cardholders. While the food/drink is of high quality, one would have to make sure they are getting sufficient value before forking over $45. Escape Lounge at CVG Review: Shockingly Good, But There Is One Drawback
