Interesting concept but I am not sure if it will be cost effective for the city or it’s taxpayers.  Something to keep an eye on for sure.

Airbnb Goes After Booking and Expedia With New Hotel Campaign – Skift

Airbnb is taking a very direct approach with this campaign.  That is a rarity these days but refreshing to see.  Going with Airbnb would be a huge break in fees for hotel owners vs going through Expedia and Booking.  I imagine independent hotels will start listing via both routes, giving Airbnb a chance to prove itself.

I know there have been a ton of reviews of Cathay Pacific but it is always good to see if they are performing at the same level.  It is great to see  their high standards are being upheld.

It is easy to forget that we are dealing with real money when discussing manufactured spending. And that a lot of the time it is an amount larger than we could afford to lose.  So if you are going to do it, and do it at high levels, make sure you are extra cautious.

SPG Backtracks on Some Hotel Category Changes For 2018 – Danny the Deal Guru

SPG announced some upcoming category changes last month but they must have had their fingers crossed, or they yelled psych after releasing it because they decided some changes weren’t worth it.  This is not a good look for SPG, especially the snarky comment on FlyerTalk.  It isn’t a huge deal, it was only a few properties, but it devalues the trust their customers have in them.  Which in the long run probably makes the changes not worth it.  They should have just waited until the next adjustments or at least announce that they made some changes.

 

MoviePass‘ CEO, Mitch Lowe, sent out a letter to MoviePass subscribers in regards to the recent comments he made at a conference about how MoviePass essentially tracks your every move.  The letter is complete malarkey in my opinion but here it is:
