IHG has a new offer on purchased points. It usually doesn’t make sense to purchase points but could be useful if you need extra points. Let’s take a look.

Analysis

The 100% bonus is the best offered on purchased points. IHG points are valued at about 0.6-0.7 cents each and through this promotion you’re buying them for 0.575 cents a piece. This is not the cheapest way to get IHG points though as sometimes you’re able to do even better through their Cash+Points trick.

Even though you’re getting these points cheaper than what they worth on average, it doesn’t mean that you should fill up your IHG Rewards Club accounts. Only purchase if you have a redemption in mind that will give you a good value for your points, or if you need some extra points towards a redemption.

Some of the best redemption value for IHG points are during their PointBreaks promotions, where you can book award nights for just 5,000 points.

The points are sold by Points.com so just use a credit card that earn you at least 2% on everyday spending.

Conclusion

This is the best offer we’ve seen on purchased IHG points. But even with this offer, these points are not really cheap, so it only makes sense to purchase if you can get a good value out of them, or if you need more points towards a redemption.
