Hyatt Targeted Promotion

About a month ago I brought you news of a targeted promotion for Microsoft employees from Hyatt. As part of the promotion, Hyatt was giving away free Platinum Status to those who were targeted.

Not On The Fast Track

Even though this promotion was supposed to be only for Microsoft employees, the registration page was open to everyone.  The page only stayed up for about a day before being pulled, but anyone who was able to register seemed to get their account upgraded to Platinum.

Yesterday I received an email from Hyatt stating that I wasn’t eligible for this promotion.  Knowing that I had already been given Platinum status, I checked my account and it was downgraded back to gold.  No big deal, but I am a little surprised that they went back and did this. (It is completely within their rights and I am not complaining.)

I have been downgraded back to the basic Gold level.

I just wanted to let anyone else know who registered for the promotion that their Platinum status may have been downgraded in case they were counting on it for upcoming stays.  My wife has Hyatt Platinum through their credit card, so this really isn’t a big blow for us.  The only real benefit of the status is free internet, so you aren’t missing out on much.
