Marriott Choice Benefits Announced for 50 & 75 Night Stays

There is now a landing page for Marriott Choice Benefits.  These are rewards for road warriors who reach the 50 and 75 night plateaus.  They have 5 choices and you get to select one of them at 50 nights and a second one at 75 nights.  Let’s take a look.

Marriott Choice Benefits Options

After reaching 50 nights you get to choose one of the following:

  • Five Suite Night Awards
  • The gift of Silver Elite status for a friend or family member
  • Five Elite Night Credits
  • $100 (USD) donation to UNICEF
  • 40% off your favorite hotel bed

At 75 nights you get the choice of another one of these options, gifting Gold Status to another member, or a free night (up to 40,000 points).

If you have already reached these plateaus you can select your perk now.  Your nights from SPG stays and Marriott stays should be combined at some point if they are not already.

Which Marriott Choice Benefits Option Offers the Most Value?

Now the question is which one offers you the most value?  To be honest the 50 nights freebies are pretty awful.  Suite Awards are probably the best option if you can use them but they have been difficult to apply in the past.  The 5 Elite nights can help you reach 75 nights, which has better offers, if you don’t think you will make it on stays.  I would say those are the two best ones.

At 75 nights the options get a little better and the free night is probably your best bet.  The fact that they cap it at 40,000 points is pretty cheap in my opinion.  If you have spent money on 75 hotel stays you should get an uncapped free night but it’s Marriott so no surprise there.

Conclusion

While it is nice to get perks for your loyalty these kind of miss the mark for me.  There definitely isn’t anything in there that would make me want to chase nights etc. Having said that it is still something free so be sure to grab it if you earned it.  Hopefully your accounts have been combined or will be in the near future.

  1. These new SNAs are a joke – most proprerties just offer “enhanced” rooms despite having different types of suites available. It seems to be a typical tactic during this merger – take the wording of valuable spg perks, sell them glamorously as persistent but execute them poorly in a Marriott way.

    • A lot of brands are playing that game these days. That is why I like the Hilton choose your room perk. I probably won’t get upgraded to anything other than a room with a view so I might as well pick it myself.

  2. I have been chasing status with a few programs for a few years now but I’m starting to think it’s not worth it. I can just book thru Amex FHR or Prive and get better benefits!

    • I think most people get sucked into the status trap and a lot of the time it isn’t worth the effort. Even with points you can book into club rooms or suites etc. So you can get it when you need it.

  3. i agree – it would have been a definite draw if the free night was uncapped. still, it’s better than what they gave before, which was basically nothing

    • I think it would have pushed people if they were just short of 75 to pick up a few nights. But it is an improvement of what was there before.

  4. Wow, that really is lackluster. I’d rather do 50 or 75 nights at Hyatt.
Marriott needs to bring their A-game and give out free nights at any hotel including Ritz Carlton and St. Regis.
