Mlife Hyatt Match Broken & How to Fix 2020

Mlife and Hyatt has been a partnership that has been fairly lucrative for me. As a top tier Hyatt member I used to get Mlife Platinum status, however the past couple of years that benefit has been downgraded to Gold. Even though it is not as good, Gold still gets me free parking on the Las Vegas Strip plus I earn Hyatt stay credits and points when staying at Mlife properties.

And that’s good, because I often take advantage of amazing Mlife rates as a local for mattress runs. I also take advantage of amazing deals often offered via Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and more recently the apple of my eye the Chase Luxury Hotel Collection. They are basically paying me to stay at Mandalay Bay this December between the credits and all of the other benefits.

One thing that is a bit quirky about Mlife is that status resets every October 1. After the reset you then have to go back in and re-link your Hyatt account to match your status again. While there are two ways to do the Mlife Hyatt status match online, only one of them seems to be working.

Don’t Match on the Mlife Website

On the Mlife website they have a page to status match between your Mlife account and your World of Hyatt account. Unfortunately it simply doesn’t work. While you can login and attempt to make the link, you will get an error every time. Thankfully there is another way. Hyatt to the rescue.

Match on the Hyatt Website for the Mlife Partnership

If you want to match your Mlife and Hyatt status then you should use the Hyatt website to do it. Fortunately Hyatt has the same sort of page on their site with a tool to match statuses but it works. After failing miserably on the Mlife site to get the match to work, Hyatt came to the rescue in about 60 seconds.

To match Mlife and Hyatt status visit this page on the Hyatt website and click Opt-In.

Hyatt Mlife Match In Person?

Additionally, you can match in person at any Mlife Rewards desk. I should say I actually was at Aria earlier this month and did this, but somehow it didn’t stick. The lady took my info and entered it and she even gave me a new Gold card. Unfortunately the other day when I logged into my account it showed I was back to the lowest level. It seems to have stuck for now though thanks to the Mlife Hyatt match trick I showed you above.

Mlife Hyatt Match Broken & Workaround – Bottom Line

While the Mlife Hyatt status match benefit isn’t as good as it used to be and doesn’t get you waived resort fees as a Globalist, it is still a very lucrative partnership for World of Hyatt elites who like to visit Vegas. Between the free parking and ability to earn night credits and points plus some other small perks, you are winning. At least if you stay out of the casinos.

  1. My Hyatt Explorist status is good through Feb 29, 2020. Should I wait until it expires to do the status match from MLife Gold OR do the matching now. Thank you!

  2. Shawn, mine matched to mlife gold with hyatt explorist last yr, but my mlife status still shows gold (played some table games but not often enough); while i’m not complaining, any thought or reason why the status didn’t get changed or downgraded?

    • Not sure. I have occasionally heard of this happening with other people in the past, but it is fairly rare. I think this is my 5th time matching and I have always had to do it every year.

  3. Thanks for the tip. I have done this a couple of times. Just matched Hyatt Explorist to MLife Gold couple days ago. Did have to try it several times to get it to work. My Explorist status is good through Feb. 2020. Hoping I can match the MLife Gold to Hyatt to extend Explorist until 2021 (funny thing is, I have 4 club passes that don’t expire until Feb. 2021). Should I try now, or wait until after February?
