Multi Tab Trick is Working Again for New Amex Offers

Multi Tab Trick Is Working Again for New Amex Offers

We reported a few weeks back that it looked like the very valuable Amex Offers program was being devalued.  It had long been known that you could load each offer to multiple cards and redeem it more than once.  Well first American Express pulled back on authorized user cards with the same name and then it gated offers to one card per name.  All of the old tricks had died.

Well today a member in our Facebook reselling group reported that he was able to load the new Marriott and Hilton offers to multiple cards.  That is pretty big news.

What does this Mean?

It is unclear at this time if this is a glitch or intentional.  We had speculated back when this started that maybe only certain offers would be limited while others would work the same as always.  I would tend to lean towards that assumption.  I think American Express may be more loose with some offers if the partner is willing to allow it.  Especially larger spend offers like the Hilton and Marriott offers today.

One thing is for sure you should be testing all offers going forward to see if adding to multiple cards works.  Also be sure to do it for these two new offers today.

Conclusion

After what seems like and endless stream of negative hits this could be a positive note.  The question remains if this is a glitch, intentional or will it only work for certain offers as Amex sees fit.  I am hopeful it will work on the more lucrative offers but I think the chances are slim to none.

This does seem like a case of American Express pulling a Marriott on us.  Pulling something away just to give a part of it back.  That makes us feel like we got a small win when in reality it would still be a huge devaluation to the program.

Let me know your thoughts below.  Also share what offers you are able to load to multiple cards in the comments section.

  1. multi-tab method (not “trick”) not working for me. I received error message stating “This offer has already been added to one or your cards ending in XXXX”

  2. Btw, I did not have success using the multi browser trick to add the Marriott on my wife’s primary cards, but it did work on mine. Interesting.

      • Nope. Attempted to add the offer to my wife’s primary cards first, but only one took. Tried the same on my primary cards and it worked as in the past. Logged into both of our authorized user accounts afterwards and offer did not show on these cards as expected.

  3. I have most all my cards on separate log ins, and the offers are showing up on those as well. I am going to stick with that. Even with the crackdown, I have my AMEX platinum and my AMEX business platinum (an old free version that is no longer offered) had the same offers on both cards.

  4. Thank you!!!! Need to fire that tech we hired last week. And get a more experienced team member to fix it again. Love you bloggers!

  5. Before the multi-browser crack down I had 2 log-ins each for my wife and I (4 total). Primary cards on one and authorized user cards on the other, simply for organization. If some offers will be live for multi browser trick it makes sense to consolidate all cards under each name (primary and authorized user) onto a single log in, correct? Otherwise offers will still die on the second login once activated for the first, right?

    • Mixed reports so far on the second log in. I would leave it as is until we get a better picture of what is going on so you don’t do waste your time doing it.

  6. It depends, it worked with the Marriott offer for 4 cards today, but it didn’t work for my embassy suite offer on 2 cards. Maybe they’re offer dependent?

    • Yeah I am seeing mixed reports on the Hilton offers but everyone is saying Marriott works. I think they may be doing it on a per offer basis.
