Norwegian Air Adds Flights to Rome From 3 U.S. Cities
Norwegian Air is adding another European destination. You’ll soon be able to fly to Rome from three cities in the United States and you can already book flights for travel later this year.
The new service will start in November with non-stop flights from both Newark Liberty and Los Angeles. Flights from the third U.S. city, Oakland, will begin in February 2018.
Norwegian Air started selling the Rome flights Wednesday morning. Fares from Newark will begin at $189 one-way and at $229 from L.A. and Oakland. A round trip flight from Newark will cost you $360, which is a great price.
- Newark Liberty-Rome: Begins Nov. 9 with four flights a week. Schedule increases to six weekly flights in February.
- Los Angeles-Rome: Begins Nov. 11 with twice weekly service. Schedule increases to three flights a week in February.
- Oakland-Rome: Begins Feb. 6 with two flights a week.
New Barcelona and United Kingdom Routes
As a reminder, service to Barcelona will begin next week when Norwegian adds the first of four non-stop routes from the USA.
Just a week later they launch an even bigger expansion. That’s when the airline will start the first of 12 new non-stop routes it will fly from mid-size cities in the U.S. Northeast to destinations in Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Norwegian plans to use its brand-new Boeing 737 MAX jets for those flights from Providence; Hartford, Conn.; and Newburgh, N.Y., though it will have to start those routes with its Boeing 737-800 variant because of delivery delays for the MAX. Norwegian expects to get its first 737 MAX in early June. We posted some great deals for these new routes yesterday, with prices starting at just $210 for round-trip travel.
With these new additions, they now fly a total of 52 non-stop routes to 13 European destinations from 12 U.S. gateways.

If I was Norwegian I would add a ORD-FCO flight. There are many Italians in Chicago. Just saying.
