New Private Island in the Philippines Costs $100K per Night

You should have heard of Necker Island, Richard Branson’s private island resort in the British Virgin Islands. You can use 1.2 million Virgin Atlantic miles for an all inclusive stay for two, for a week. But if you look to pay in cash, than prices start at about $35,000 and go up to $77,500. There’s also Musha Cay in the Bahamas, owned by David Copperfield, that costs $42,000 a night. But those are not the most expensive resorts out there. A new private island that just opened up in the Philippines will cost you $100,000 per night.

It’s called Banwa Private Island and is likely the most expensive resort in the world. It’s been in the works for years, and now is finally open, if you’ve been waiting to visit it.

Location

The 15-acre island resort is located in the archipelago of Palawan. It has year-round sunshine thanks to its location close to the equator. It’s a two-hour helicopter or seaplane ride from Manila. Transfers to and from Manila are not included. Prices start at $990 per way for a nine-passenger seaplane and $11,580 round-trip for a five-passenger helicopter. Minimum stay requirements range from three to five nights depending on the time of year.

Amenities

On the secluded island, there are six beachfront villas, all with a private infinity pool and Jacuzzi. Bedrooms vary from one to four. There are also 12 garden rooms and a top-level residential suite. The island can accommodate a total of 48 people, so you will never feel crowded.

The all inclusive resort has a full staff of chefs on hand. They use vegetables from the onsite organic farm and fish caught from the surrounding Sulu Sea. The resort even makes its own honey. If wine is your thing, you will find bottles costing as much as $36,000. But, that is not included in the $100K price tag.

Other amenities include a tennis court and a short golf course, plus access to a variety of boats. Jet skiing, scuba diving, sailing and kayaking are available. Guests have use of an island concierge and they can get unlimited spa treatments.

Of course, the gorgeous beach that stretches around the island is also a draw. There is an on-site marine specialist to explain everything for the curious minds.
