Ranking The 8 New Thompson Hotels (Hyatt Partner) Top to Bottom
Hyatt has been adding partnerships to their portfolio right and left and even added some spas. The latest addition to their team is the Thompson Hotels group and they have added 8 properties. I wanted to take a look at them and rank them from most exciting to least exciting. To be honest they all look like really nice hotels so there isn’t a loser in the bunch. Award cost, location, and comparable Hyatt options in the area were considered when I made my decisions.

8. Thompson TorontoÂ
When you have a Park Hyatt (under renovations) in your city for less and a Regency for half the price too you come in last on my list.
7. The Cape, Cabo San Lucas
This property looks amazing and is ranked 7th in the Cabo area. But it isn’t an all inclusive and when you can get all of your food and drinks covered for 5,000 points LESS per night at the Ziva Cabo San Lucas which is a little ways down the road that is where I would be every time!
6. Thompson Zihuatanejo
The pictures of this place actually look like the most amazing of any of the properties, at least I think so. It looks so beautiful and relaxing but it is hard to get to which knocks it way down on my list.
5. Thompson Chicago
The Thompson Chicago immediately jumps to the top of the rankings when it comes to Hyatt hotels in Chicago. It is ranked 10th in Chi Town per TripAdvisor. It gets knocked on this list some because the location is a little too far north for my liking and the cash prices in Chicago are usually very reasonable.
4. The Beekman (NYC)
The Beekman instantly becomes the highest rated Hyatt hotel in “the city”, 24th overall per TripAdvisor. But the location isn’t great being downtown and at 25,000 points per night you have a ton of options for your Hyatt points closer to the action.
3. Thompson Nashville
While Nashville is a smaller town compared to some others on this list it is a popular location and the hotels can get pricey. There also isn’t a ton of Hyatt hotels in the area which makes this a great addition. At only 5,000 more points than the Hyatt Place down the road I think I would go with this location.
2. Thompson Seattle
If this list had been done 6 months ago the Thompson Seattle would not be so high. But with Hyatt’s recent changes everything worthwhile in Seattle is 20K a night now. And this hotel is the best among those choices. The location is superb and the views overlooking the water look stunning.
1. Gild Hall (NYC)
Although this hotel is located in the financial district downtown, like the Beekman, it is now the cheapest option in NYC by 5,000 points per night. A category 4 in the city!?! I will take that all day, every day!
Conclusion
While the Thompson partnership doesn’t add a ton of hotels to Hyatt’s lineup they sure do pack a punch! Many of the hotels on this list become the highest rated Hyatt option in the respective city. That is pretty impressive!

Underated at Category 4. Perfect location with restaurants and bars. Staff was spectacular. Nico restaurant for globalist breakfast is a hidden gem.

I think they usually only do category changes once a year but I agree it will be whenever they change them next time.
I’ve been to both and the Thompson Seattle seems better in most every way than the new Hyatt Regency Seattle. The Thompson is right by Pike Place Market, has some great views of Elliott Bay and a rooftop bar. The Regency has… well it’s big. I’d pay the extra points.
