Make up to $200 Referring Friends to Upromise

As I mentioned when I talked about my shopping portal strategy, Upromise is one of the five shopping portals that I tend to use regularly. While Top Cashback and BeFrugal tend to offer sign-up bonuses, Upromise has held off on that.

Over this past year Upromise has started to offer sign-up bonus for referrals, but on targeted accounts only. Recently I noticed on their front page that it seems referrals are opened up to any Upromise member. Not only does the referring member receive $20, but the new member receives $20 as well!

Key Terms

The $20 cash back offer is available for members who refer new valid Upromise members only. To get your $20 cash back, you must submit your friend’s email address through the link on the invitation page. Your referred friend(s) must enroll in Upromise through the enrollment invitation by 12/31/2015 and make a qualifying purchase within 45 days of his or her enrollment. A qualifying purchase includes making an eligible purchase with any of our 850+ online partners at Upromise.com or by using the RewardUSM toolbar, making a qualified dine at a participating restaurant location, activating eCoupons and using a registered grocery loyalty card, shopping in-store offers using a registered credit card, and making a purchase using a registered Upromise MasterCard. Your $20 cash back will be deposited into your Upromise account on or around 4/14/2016. Maximum of 10 contributions per member, up to $200.

How to Refer

upromise refer a friend

I believe that any current Upromise member can refer their friends now unlike in the past. To refer people, simply go to this page and fill out the appropriate information. As long as the referred person signs up and make a purchase within 45 days, both the referrer and the referee will receive $20. (A simple $1 eBay purchase should trigger the credit for example.)

Referrals

Each members can refer a friend 10 times per account. My wife and I both have accounts, so we definitely can refer up to 20 people. Of course, by signing up you would be supporting the site, but most importantly you would have an account at a decent portal and $20 in your pocket! If you don’t want us to refer you, then simply find a friend who has Upromise and they can refer you as well!

If you would like a referral, simply email me at shawn@milestomemories.com with the subject Upromise Referral. Make sure to include the email address you will be signing up with so I can send the referral your way.

Conclusion

This is both a great way for existing members to receive $20 for referring friends & family and for new members to pocket a little cash. Shopping portals are such an important way to save some money and everyone knows a few people who could use a nudge to use them more often. Perhaps $20 is enough motivation.

  1. How do I do a “simple $1 ebay purchase” to activate the $20 bonus? I don’t want to spend any money on shipping and want to spend as little as possible to get this done but am not sure what to look for. Is there something specific you suggest? Thanks!

    • In the past I have purchased micro USB charging cables during similar promotions. Normally you can find them for about $1 with free shipping, although they will take awhile to get there from China.

  2. Cool. Nice quick $20 (or more). I’d definitely have Shawn refer me, if both my spouse and I didn’t already have accounts. But I second Anthony’s suggestion for folks to ask Shawn for a referral if you don’t have an account already.

  3. @Shawn Coomer
    cool.
so as new member i can receive $20 simply for signing up for UP?
or do i have to make a purchase to receive the $20?.. can i use the “free” $20 towards said purchase?
    thanks!

  4. I hope that everyone will get their referral links FIRST from Shawn and not spam his comments with their own email address. I know he’s too gracious to ever request that we use his links first so on my own accord I’m asking that everyone else shows support for what is a great resource (his site) in our daily MS/travel/savings endeavors!

    @ Shawn

Do you by any chance know if this is a second round of offers for those who received the $20 referral links just a few months ago? Basically wondering if we can double dip.

    • This is a separate promotion than the targeted one a few months ago. As for putting our email addresses in the comments I don’t think that would be right as Shawn didn’t say that we could in his article. However, if he fills up his 20 referrals I would gladly refer others if needed.
